Welcome to Webiota.com!
Webiota.com was created to promote the development of free educational web sites so that all people can become educated. It serves as a motivator for careers to recognize the potential of the uneducated, and it exists to demote the purpose of corrupt Colleges and Institutions during a time where The greatest sum total of human knowledge (The Internet) can be accessed by almost anyone. As such, there are three principles that form the foundation of the Webiota purpose:
- Article I: Availability: All knowledge should be made free and it must be available to all people. If repositories of knowledge require income to sustain their function, advertisements may be used and donations may be taken but no fee should be charged. more: see principles
- Article II: Application: No one should infringe on the opportunities of a person to apply knowledge, whether that knowledge is gained from a non-free source such a College, or that knowledge be obtained through online-research, libraries or other free sources. Job opportunities should not be made less available to those without formal educations. Instead, career opportunities should be extended to everyone based on their understanding of the job in question. more: see principles
- Article III: Distribution: No one should infringe on the opportunities of a person to distribute knowledge, unless the works are legally protected. Credit should be given to the original repository and author of the works. more: see principles
If you feel something should be added to this philosophy, please let me know. The best thing to do is leave comments on the Webiota Blog. If you agree to the above, you are welcome to copy and paste these principles anywhere you like, as long as you provide a link/credit back to this site.
Please note: Webiota is not an organization. Webiota is simply a personal project to provide the principles of "Open Source Freedom" for knowledge. Webiota also is not associated with the GNU/Linux Foundation or the GPL which has been created.
An open source design!
As with all free-knowledge, the GPL/GNU license gives people the opportunity to use and further the ideas of others. A great example of this philosophy is the open source web design site I got this from, and its author, Andreas Viklund, who allowed me to design this site in a very efficient and quick amount of time. It benefits Andreas, as it is free-advertising for him, and it benefits me, as it took me 1/10th as long to make this site.
